Interested in donating?

We are so overjoyed by the communities support! We have received so many wonderful donations and we hope to keep it going!

We require that you schedule a time to bring in donations. This helps us manage the intake with a limited number of staff.

If you would like to hold a donation drive for us, please coordinate with Staff. We will be unable to accept donations from a drive unless this happens.

Any donation above 4 Large bags should be also coordinated with Staff. Please reach out via Social Media, or email (Thrift@mainetransnet.org).

If you are unsure if your donation would qualify as a large donation, please reach out as well.

If you are looking to donate, please read the following.

Donation Requirements/Requests:

  • ALL ITEMS MUST BE CLEAN. Please wash anything you are donating before dropping it off. We have no onsite laundry, and we are unable to bring loads of donations to a laundry mat. Help us out by making sure you clothes have been cleaned within the week you are bringing them. Please refrain from using any laundry scent boosters when washing to help our staff and volunteers with scent sensitivities and, if possible, use an unscented detergent. Any donations deemed to soiled to clean or in bad condition (torn, stained, ect.) will be sent to a clothing recycler. Please still be mindful of what you are donating.

  • Shoes should be kept in a separate bag from clothing. Clothing in the same bag as used shoes are no longer considered clean. If we get a donation that has shoes mixed into it, we will be forced to send the whole bag to be recycled. Please respect our time and your donations.

  • We are not accepting used underwear or socks. We will accept unopened underwear or socks. We will not make exceptions to this, it is a health safety issue. If your donations have used underwear in them, we will be force to send the whole bag to be recycled. If you are concerned about people having underwear, please buy new underwear to donate.

  • We are always in need of Bras and Binders. We offer these for free and they are invaluable.

  • We also need reusable bags, so if you can drop off your donations in a reusable bag, you’ll be our favorite! Please feel free to donate extra reusable shopping bags too if you’ve found yourself with too many.

What items are we looking for?

Simply put, Safe Combinations will sell anything a person might wear. Clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, jewelry. We will not sell furniture, appliances, or other non-wearable items.

Ideal donations include:

  • A diversity of clothing sizes, but we especially want larger “women’s” clothing and smaller “men’s” clothing. But all sizes are good!

  • Shoes, purses, bags, scarves, jewelry! It’s all good and we want it!

  • Higher quality clothing. Dress shirts, sweaters, dresses, pants. We take clothing of all kinds but getting a stock of business professional and fancy dress is very important to us! We want to offer an affordable way to access this kind of clothing for people.

  • We will take bras and binders that have size tags, are clean, and are in good condition. No other undergarments will be accepted.

  • Shoes are hard to find in both your size and style, so the more we have the more likely folks will get what they need!

  • Jewelry and accessories can really help someone bring somebodies aesthetic together. Unfortunately these things can be extremally expensive. If you’ve got accessories that you don’t wear anymore, we are certain they will make someone’s day!

  • Makeup is a great help to us! Any makeup that is applied to the face must be unused and sealed. This is for health and safety.

  • We have a very small amount of space for household goods. We ask that if you intend to bring some, you let us know what it is and how large so we can decide if there is space for it.

Schedule a drop off time!
